Key Display KD986N - Upgrade / Replacement for eBikes

Key Display KD986N — Now with Bluetooth, Apple Find My, and USB-C

The KD986 has been replaced by the updated KD986N. It adds Bluetooth connectivity for the Key-Disp (Key-Display) app, integration with Apple’s Find My network, and a built-in USB-C port for charging on the go.

App & Connectivity

• Bluetooth pairs with the Key-Disp app for: bike info, controls, location, ride records, and diagnostic data.

• Optional Turn-by-Turn Navigation: $6.00/month, billed in-app by Key-Disp/the navigation provider (not by Tampa Bay eBikes).

Key Features

• High-luminance, fast-response screen with updated graphics

• Detachable 4-button remote (note: the “+” button toggles lights)

• Light sensor for automatic headlight on/off

• Built-in USB-C for phone/accessory charging

• Up to 9 PAS levels

• Power-on password option

• Display does not dim when lights are on

Settings & Limits (bike-dependent)

• Easy access to key parameters: wheel size, speed limit, battery voltage, assist tuning, and more

• Max speed-limit setting: up to 56 mph (off-road use; see legal note below)

• Max current limit: 25 A

• Performance varies based on your bike’s components; some setups may see no performance change

US/EU Mode Switching

(where supported)

Mode switching is done by pressing the “i” button on the remote. Availability varies by make/model; preset limits cannot be overridden in the settings menu.

US modes

• ECO: 4 mph throttle, 20 mph PAS limit

• STD: 4 mph throttle, 28 mph PAS limit

• PER (Max): Unlimited throttle & PAS (max speed-limit mode)

EU modes

• ECO: 6 km/h throttle, 25 km/h PAS limit

• STD (Max): Unlimited throttle & PAS (max speed-limit mode)

On some bikes, throttle may share the same limit as PAS (e.g., 20/28 mph in the US, 25 km/h in the EU). Max speed-limit mode is generally for off-road use only. Local regulations vary; we make no claims regarding legal compliance in your area.

Fitment Notes

• Himiway Cruiser/Cruiser ST: Check the back of your stock display and select the option that matches the five middle digits printed on it.

• Some displays may show different graphics.
